Standard thermoelectric modules

 

TM series of thermoelectric modules

The standard Peltier coolers manufactured by SCTB NORD includes single-stage (ТМ) and multistage thermoelectric modules (2ТМ, 3ТМ, 4ТМ series).

Thermoelectric modules are produced with application of the following technologies:

 

  • advanced polycrystalline thermoelectric materials with high mechanical strength obtained using the powder metallurgical technique
  • thermoelectric materials properties optimized for Peltier modules work within the certain temperature range
  • patented technology for the manufacture of Peltier elements with elastic glue layers to avoid mechanical stress caused by temperatures gradients in operating modules
  • designed and implemented technology of multilayer antidiffusion barriers resistant to thermal stresses
  • gold-plated semiconductor thermoelectric dices to avoid thermoelectric module soldering defects
  • thermoelectric modules soldered using low active rosin fluxes with minimum ion component concentrations for enhanced corrosion resistance of modules
  • precise lapping ensuring high quality, flatness and parallelism of Peltier modules' working surfaces to enable a good thermal contact with the cooled object and the heat dissipation system
  • 6-stage washing with a variety of solvents to remove residual flux and ensure corrosion resistance of thermoelecric coolers
  • module quality control at all production stages, regulated by the Quality Assurance Program (basic level)
  • usage of components that have been approved for production by EU RoHS Directive.

 

 

Single-stage thermoelectric modules provide for a maximum temperature difference of up to 73оС between the hot and cold sides.

The required thermoelectric module types are selected from the General Specification or from the Table given below, based on the marking ТМ-ААА-ВВ-СС М, where:

  • TM - thermoelectric module
  • AAA - number of thermocouples
  • BB - dice cross section, mm
  • CC - current at maximum temperature difference ΔTmax, А
  • М - modules manufactured using the patented glue layer technology

*At the module hot side temperature Тhot=50 °С ΔTmax rises to 82-83 °C

At the customer's request, Pelrier modules with additional options may be manufactured:

If required temperature difference exceed of 50 °С two- or multistage thermoelectric modules ensure improved energy saving.

The required Peltier module types are selected from the General Specification or from the tables given below, based on the marking Х ТМ-ААА-ВВ-ССМ, where:

 

  • Х - number of stages in a thermoelectric module
  • TM - thermoelectric module
  • AAA - number of thermocouples in the module's first stage
  • BB - number of thermocouples in the module's second stage
  • CC - current at maximum temperature difference ΔTmax, А
  • М - modules manufactured using the patented glue layers technology

Multistage thermoelectric modules are basically customized modules. Please contact SCTB NORD for all issues concerning the design and manufacture of such modules.

 

Basic applications of two- and multistage thermoelectric modules are:

  • industrial electronics and telecommunication systems
  • cooling systems for industrial and medical equipment
  • infrared and nuclear radiation sensors cooling
  • matrix cooling in night vision devices
  • CCD matrix cooling etc.
